What Is Colour With Care?

Colour with Care is a La Biosthetique initiative where every tube of colour used in salon will raise funds for the global non-profit organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders). This means that simply by having your colour done at H&B, you are making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Who Are Medecins Sans Frontieres?

MSF are an independent, emergency medical humanitarian aid organisation that operates in over 70 countries across the world. They provide medical relief to those who need it most, regardless of race, religion or political conviction. Since their conception in 1971 MSF have helped over 10,000 patients. They were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 as recognition for their aid work.

Every single day over 30,000 staff provide assistance to people caught in crises such as famine, war, disease outbreaks and natural disasters.

At the core of MSF's identity is a commitment to remaining neutral, impartial and independent from government agencies. This independence and neutrality means that any aid that MSF provides in politically turbulent areas cannot be used to further political or military goals.

90% of MSF's funding comes from small amounts donated privately by individuals. This financial independence furthers their mission to provide completely impartial aid, as the aid cannot further any country's military or political goals. They have minimal administration costs - at least 85% of money raised goes directly to providing aid.

Emergency Nutrition packs donations to MSF through Colour With Care are measured in Emergency Nutrition Packs. These packs (also known as 'Plumpy Nut') are made of a nut-based paste that contains the necessary essential vitamins, minerals and calories needed to treat severe malnutrition. 2 Nutrition Packs a day for 3 weeks will bring a severely malnourished child back into a healthy weight range.

Emergency Medical Response MSF have an incredibly fast response time to natural disasters, as their financial and political independence mean they do not have to wait for funding to be released in the case of an immediate emergency. In the Haiti earthquakes in 2010, they were treating the first casualty within minutes. Even if they are not active in a particular country, they can deploy within hours. MSF have developed pre-packaged disaster kits, including a complete surgical theatre, an obstetrics kit, and an inflatable hospital. These kits are now used as models by emergency relief organizations worldwide.

Safe Childbirth Delivery kits

Medical Consultation/Primary Care many people around the globe do not have safe access to primary medical care. This is especially true in disaster relief areas where local infrastructure has been destroyed, and for refugees who are displaced in refugee camps. MSF make regular visits to these areas to treat patients until the infrastructure has been rebuilt.

Vaccinations for preventable diseases and testing kits for diagnosis eg; diptheria & malaria

Underground Doctors training doctors to be able to work in underground clinics and bomb shelters.

Essential survival items eg; tents, clothing, etc
