At Hair Art & Beauty (H&B), we are proud to be a La Biosthetique concept salon and spa, offering a unique, luxury hair and beauty experience in the heart of Christchurch. With over 25 years of service, we’ve become known for our personalised care, technical excellence, and unwavering commitment to sustainability and community.
Our services include precision colouring, Great Lengths hair extensions, bespoke facials, advanced paramedical treatments such as dermal needling, and a full range of spa and beauty services. Every treatment is tailored to the individual — because we believe that beauty should always be personal, never prescriptive.
Community at Our Core
At Hair Art & Beauty, we believe that beauty is more than skin deep — it’s about how we show up for the people around us. Our connection to the community is a central part of who we are, and we’re proud to support causes that uplift, empower, and make a meaningful difference.
We actively partner with local organisations including Dress for Success Christchurch, where we’ve contributed hair and makeup services for fashion shows, donated vouchers for fundraising efforts, and led our in-salon “Purse With Purpose” initiative — collecting handbags filled with essential items to support women rebuilding their lives.
We also proudly support:
- Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, raising over $3,000 through client donations
- Regular donations of stationery and uniforms to St Albans School, our local primary school.
- The Love Grace Handbag Drive, helping women escaping domestic violence
- Yearly donations to City Mission at Christmas time
- Local women in leadership, including Miss New Zealand/Miss International competitions
- Avon Hockey Club, through sponsorship and providing team uniforms
- Various other schools and local fundraisers with regular voucher donations
Globally, we contribute to Doctors Without Borders through the La Biosthetique Colour With Care initiative, and support wildlife conservation via the Retiti Elephant Sanctuary in Kenya.
Whether it’s local engagement or global impact, we’re committed to creating beauty that goes far beyond the salon.
Built on Sustainability
At H&B, sustainability isn’t a trend. It’s a core value that drives every decision we make. As a certified Carbon Neutral salon and winner of Sustainable Salon of the Year in 2022 (and finalist in 2023), we’ve made eco-conscious practices part of our everyday operations.
We recycle up to 95% of our salon waste through the Sustainable Salons program. Our water and energy use is reduced through smart systems and EcoHeads. We also offer digital receipts, use oat milk for all drinks, and reward clients who return used product bottles.
Our recent salon expansion reflects the same commitment. We chose a builder who partners with a skip company that carefully sorts construction waste to remove recyclable materials and keep them out of landfill. The new space includes reclaimed materials, native gardens, a beehive, solar preparation, EV charging and low-VOC paints.
Lifelong Education, Lifelong Excellence
At Hair Art & Beauty, education is central to maintaining the highest standards of service. We regularly host private in-salon workshops and attend advanced training sessions with La Biosthetique in New Zealand, Australia, and Europe. In 2023, our full team completed hands-on training at the La Biosthetique Academies in Germany and Paris, deepening their technical and product knowledge.
Our education approach is tailored to each team member, selecting workshops and courses that match their skills and growth goals. We also invest in external training through industry leaders like Sharon Blain and Theo Dimitri, and support our business team through training with the Chamber of Commerce and Retail NZ.
All new services and technologies are introduced with direct, one-on-one training from qualified educators — ensuring every client experience meets professional standards.
